"Chimo Project" Animal Assisted Therapy Volunteer Drive
Alberta

Date: Ongoing
Location: Various locations in Alberta

Wanted! Pets to help people.

The Chimo Project uses animals in therapy sessions to help the clients achieve their goals such as reduction in anxiety and depression or increased participation in therapy. The Chimo Project offers therapy certification for volunteers with dogs and cats with daytime, evening or weekend availability.

Especially needed are dogs that can do agility and fetch, and volunteers with daytime availability.

We are currently placing animals at:

  • Alberta Hospital Edmonton (psychiatric adults and elderly)
  • Facilities for at-risk youth (Bosco, Yellowhead, CASA)
  • The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (all ages)

The process to becoming a therapy dog includes:

  • Chimo’s Basic Obedience Testing (or any dog sport title)
  • Therapy Dog Temperament Test
  • Vet Check
  • Volunteer Orientation

For more information, see the Chimo Project Brochure or visit the Chimo Project website.

If you would like to volunteer with your pet, please email the Chimo Project or phone 780-452-2452.
