| David’s introduction to the sport of purebred dogs began in 1982 with the purchase of his first Whippet, that summer his family attended a Whippet race meet. IT WAS THRILLING! David loved the athleticism of the dogs and the excitement of the races. It was incredible watching the whippets perform the job they were breed to do. In conjunction with the race meet a fun match was held and he was encouraged to show his Whippet in the match. Being a complete novice, he hadn't a clue how to show a dog. After a crash course in handling, he ventured into the ring and won Best in Match. He was hooked! In the years that followed Dashing Whippets began. Together with his wife, Gina, they have had great success with the ancestors of their first Whippet. Their Whippets compete in the show ring; at lure coursing and racing field trials and most importantly they have also proven themselves as producers. Having the good fortune of having the top producing Whippet dam in the country for the year 2000. In recent years we have had the pleasure of a wonderful friendship with Debbie Butt and Amanda Giles of Sporting Fields. Debbie and Amanda have graciously shared many of their finest Whippets with us and we are truly grateful. This partnership has resulted in five individual Best in Show winners, a National Specialty Best of Breed winner, the number one Whippet female for 2018 and National Specialty BOS winner. As well as the top producing bitch of the decade (2010-2020). Additionally, we share an interest in Border Collies and the Berger Picard. David believes it is important that we give back to the sport we love. Locally David serves as the regional Show Chair for the American Whippet Club North Central Region Specialty. At the All-Breed level he is a Director of the St. Croix Valley Kennel Club and serves as the All-Breed Show Chair. Nationally David is the Past President of the American Whippet Club and the current AWC Judges Education Coordinator. |
